Devan Ford-McCartney, EdD

Dr. Devan Ford-McCartney obtained a bachelors’ degree in organizational communication from Texas Southern University, a Master’s Degree in Student Affairs Administration from Texas A&M University, and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Arkansas. Her range of higher education experience includes work with student housing and residence life, student conduct, advising student organizations, academic success initiatives, first-year experience, transitional programs, college teaching, athletics, and gender equity and inclusion initiatives. Devan currently serves as the Director of the Women and Gender Resource Center at the University of Houston. In addition to her professional work, Dr. Ford-McCartney serves on the Board of Directors for Self-Love First Non-Profit, and is the Chief Education Officer at BigBlackScholar.com. Her motto is “if it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.” Dr. Ford-McCartney considers herself a change agent, and an advocate for diversity, inclusion, and gender equity.
