Rohby Word Mitchell is director of diversity and human resource compliance at Spectra Energy, responsible for the company’s enterprise-wide diversity and inclusion strategic direction.
Mitchell has 30 years of human resource experience with Spectra Energy and has served and held leadership positions in the areas of equal employment opportunity, talent management, employee relations and diversity. Nearly half of her tenure with the company has been dedicated to the important work of diversity management.
Mitchell’s portfolio with Spectra Energy also includes 15 years of voluntary non-profit board and advisory committee service. She has served as a presenter, co-presenter and panelist at numerous human resource, diversity and organizational development conferences.
Mitchell received a master’s degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Political Science from the University of St. Thomas – Houston, Texas. She has also completed a wide range of educational enrichment opportunities through the Worklife Institute, the Cape Cod Institute, Healing the Heart of Diversity® – a Fetzer Institute Initiative, and the National Training Laboratory Institute for Applied Behavioral Science.
Mitchell holds the senior human resource professional (SPHR) and SHRM-SCPTM (Society of Human Resource Management Senior Certified) designations and has been certified for more than 20 years.
