Dear Conference Attendees, As the 2008 co-chairs of the Fourth Annual Texas Diversity and Leadership Conference, it is with excitement and sincere commitment that we welcome you and your colleagues to this substantive and indelible cutting-edge forum where we will endeavor, with your participation and insight, to focus on our paramount theme of “Deconstructing the Texas Glass Ceiling.”! Through the various presentations, we will learn more about this topic and will gather thoughts and decipher that this focus is both a business and moral imperative for our legal community, overall business executives and leaders, and community. Dennis Kennedy, the founder of the Texas Diversity Council, stated that in order to be and see change in our state and beyond, it will take, and we will need, a CollectiveVoice™. Further, we must gather, collectively, and be honest and factual in order for us to empower each other and, therefore, challenge the current status quo of inequality. We will need, and it will take, unwavering and focused teamwork, determination, commitment, and organization. Each of us has a part in building our company’s culture to leverage diversity and inclusion in order to achieve the maximum value for each person and the organization – we must invest in our human assets. It is through this focus on facilitating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce and an unequivocally equitable and supportive workplace that creativity and vitality will be sparked in our entities and through our employees. The inherent and intrinsic power of people, relationships, and diversity and inclusion in the workplace enhances our opportunity for meaningful success! Your participation in this Conference is of paramount importance, is invaluable, is needed, and we are excited that you will join us! Sincerely,
Pauline E. Higgins, Esquire Lora J. Villareal, Ph.D. |
